Ryland Inn Coach House Wedding | NJ Wedding Videographer
There is something incredibly special about a wedding at the Ryland Inn. Between the historic property, beautiful grounds, and the rustic elegance of the Coach House, it is one of our favorite New Jersey wedding venues to film.
For this wedding, the couple chose to have their ceremony at a church before making their way to the Ryland Inn in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey for their reception in the Coach House.
As a New Jersey wedding videographer, AB Wedding Studio loves wedding days that give us a combination of traditional moments, emotional reactions, beautiful portrait locations, and a packed reception. This wedding delivered all of it.
A Traditional Church Wedding Ceremony
Instead of holding their ceremony on site at the Ryland Inn, the couple chose a traditional church ceremony surrounded by their family and friends.
Church ceremonies can be especially beautiful on film because they create an atmosphere that feels completely different from the reception portion of the day. The architecture, music, processional, vows, and reactions from family members all become an important part of telling the complete story of the wedding.
This couple also decided not to do a first look. That meant the first time they saw one another on their wedding day was when the bride walked down the aisle.
From a wedding videography perspective, there is something special about preserving that moment exactly as it happened. The anticipation throughout the morning builds all the way until the ceremony doors open, creating one of the most emotional moments of the entire wedding film.
Wedding Photos at the Ryland Inn
After the ceremony, everyone made their way to the Ryland Inn for portraits, cocktail hour, and the reception.
One of the reasons we enjoy filming weddings here is the amount of visual variety available throughout the property. The Ryland Inn combines historic architecture, open outdoor spaces, greenery, and the refined rustic feel that has made the venue so recognizable among New Jersey couples.
Because the couple skipped a first look, portraits took place after the ceremony. This gave us the opportunity to capture some of their first relaxed moments together as newlyweds while working alongside the photography team from Idalia Photography.
For wedding videography, those moments between the ceremony and reception are often some of our favorites.
Once the timeline slows down slightly, the couple finally gets an opportunity to take everything in. Those candid interactions often become some of the most meaningful moments in the finished wedding film.
A Coach House Wedding Reception
The reception took place inside the Coach House at the Ryland Inn.
The Coach House is a restored historic barn that combines exposed wood, soaring ceilings, and elegant details, giving couples the atmosphere of a rustic wedding venue without sacrificing the polished feel of a luxury New Jersey wedding.
Landmark Venues describes the Coach House as a refurbished approximately 200-year-old barn, and that history gives the space a completely different personality from a traditional ballroom.
From a filmmaking perspective, we love the contrast.
The outdoor areas around the Ryland Inn provide beautiful natural backgrounds earlier in the day, while the Coach House creates a warm and intimate atmosphere once the reception begins.
Celebrating Inside the Coach House
Once introductions began, the entire energy of the wedding shifted.
The reception included everything we love capturing on a wedding day: the couple's entrance, first dance, parent dances, heartfelt speeches, dinner, and a dance floor filled with family and friends.
Live entertainment from Hank Lane Music kept the celebration moving throughout the evening and helped turn the Coach House into an incredible party.
While portraits and detail shots help establish the setting of a wedding film, these unscripted reception moments are just as important.
The reactions during speeches, friends singing along on the dance floor, grandparents watching from their tables, and those little interactions happening away from the center of the room are often the moments couples appreciate even more years later.
Our goal at AB Wedding Studio is always to capture those moments without making the wedding day feel like a production.
Why We Love Filming Weddings at the Ryland Inn
The Ryland Inn has become one of the most recognizable wedding venues in the Whitehouse Station area, and it is easy to understand why.
Originally dating back to 1796, the property was once a country home and stagecoach stop before being transformed into the wedding and event venue couples know today. The property maintains much of that historic character while incorporating modern wedding spaces and amenities.
For couples considering a Coach House wedding, there are several things that make the venue especially attractive.
You have beautiful locations for portraits without needing to leave the property, a reception space with its own distinctive character, and plenty of opportunities for both cinematic wide shots and intimate candid footage.
The Coach House also works beautifully for couples who want the rustic appearance of a barn wedding while still having an elevated and sophisticated wedding experience.
Church Ceremony and Ryland Inn Reception
Having your ceremony at a church and reception at the Ryland Inn also creates a natural progression for the wedding film.
The ceremony feels traditional and intimate. Then the day transitions into outdoor portraits and cocktail hour before eventually moving into the warm atmosphere of the Coach House for the reception.
For couples who do not want a first look, this type of timeline can work especially well.
Instead of seeing one another earlier in the afternoon, the anticipation continues all the way through the ceremony. Afterward, the couple can take wedding party, family, and newlywed portraits before joining cocktail hour or heading into the reception.
